About Kinnishiki-cho
"Jinjin Town" is located at Nos. 84 and 86, Jinhua Street, Taipei City. The old house was built during the Japanese colonial period. It was located in the "Nishiki Town" administrative district during the Japanese colonial period. It used to be a dormitory for the Forestry Division staff of the Bureau of Land and Resources. After the Restoration, the Japanese-style official buildings on the streets of Nishiki-machi were gradually moved to serve as dormitories for the Taiwan Provincial Tobacco and Liquor Sales Bureau and the Forestry Bureau, but later became idle and abandoned for some reason.
In 2013, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Taipei City Government promoted the Old House Culture Movement and combined private efforts to restore old houses. After more than 4 years of restoration, the old houses in "Jinjin Town" were restored in 2018 and were named after the current "Jinhua Street". The brand name was combined with the name of the administrative district of "Nishiki-machi" during the Japanese colonial period, and "Kinishiki-machi" was created.
"Kinnishiki Town" hopes to connect the past and future of this land, and use humane souvenirs to connect the memories and emotions between people, and between people and this land.
