Before the official opening of the physical store, the dozi leather handicraft studio was only engaged in leather production in a small room at home, working in a factory during the day and part-time production and sales of leather goods at night. At that time, it was mainly sold on online platforms, such as: yahoo , pinkoi . Later, there were more opportunities for exposure and order transactions, which lasted more than 5 years. It was not until I had the opportunity to receive an invitation from the Taiwan government to open a physical store in the most famous tourist attraction in Taiwan. This tourist attraction is the "Yilan Traditional Art Center". It officially entered the physical store business in 2015. This is the studio's first store. , The house number of this store is "No. 3 Linshui Street".


Opened the second store in Taipei and started leather goods teaching

In the second half of 2016, Yilan Traditional Art Center was closed for half a year for renovation due to the change of operator. During this time, we tried to lease new stores in the bustling business district of Taipei City. We want to open new markets in Taipei. same time! We started teaching courses in Taipei, and we provide a class activity where friends who want to experience handmade leather goods can make their own leather goods. The main business items of the second store are on-site leather goods sales, providing customized design and production of leather products, and leather goods teaching courses. At that time, it also won some brand awareness and many praises. Later, because the rent of the Taipei store was too expensive to make ends meet, the operation ended after only 8 months of operation.

In the same year, we were invited by the association to undertake vocational training courses. The main teaching contents are "Basic Leather Goods Making" and "Leather Pattern Design Advanced Class". There are about 4 classes a year, each class has about 20 students. There are holiday classes and regular classes, and the training hours are about 50 to 80 hours. Since 2016, the total number of lecturers has exceeded 400 people. There are also many students who are interested in leather goods making and engage in related work. There are also trainees who become artisans in our studio to assist in production. Therefore, we often say that our leather goods are produced locally in Yilan, because the artisans who assist us in production are all from the students we once taught.


New studio, new storefront at Yilan Traditional Art Center

Yilan Traditional Art Center finally reopened on January 21, 2017 after being closed for half a year for renovation. Our studio was also changed from "Lin Shui Street No. 3" to "Wenchang Street No. 22". Our store size has been upgraded from 40㎡ to 228㎡. The entire building has space on the first and second floors. In terms of space planning, the front is the sales storefront, and the back is the planning of the production factory. The front of the first floor is the sales area and on-site performance production, and the rear is the production, leather cutting and dyeing area. The second floor is the design studio and DIY teaching area. At that time, the number of employees also increased to more than 10, each performing their duties.

In 2017, 2018 and 2019, the main business focus will be on the operation of Yichuan Art Center. The upgrade of production equipment, the training of craftsmen...etc. Various production equipment has been purchased successively, such as cutting machines, chipping machines, industrial cutting machines, and laser engraving machines. At this time, DOZI handmade leather has changed from a soho studio to a leather goods design and production company that can be mass-produced. In recent years, I have also tried to set up stalls in event markets, and been invited to conduct teaching activities in different companies, groups, and schools. Began to contact leather making factories to make leather materials that meet our needs. Go to Hong Kong and Guangzhou to visit leather fairs and find suitable raw material manufacturers.Then we will enter the department store in 2021
