Taoyuan, Namasia, and Jiaxian (including Kobayashi) between the 20th and 21st lanes of Kaohsiung Taiwan used to be the largest non-toxic plum producing area in Taiwan. After the Morakot typhoon in 2009, the local plum orchard's output was not as good as before. In 2013, a number of entrepreneurs and the government raised funds to establish Youjushengji Industrial Co., Ltd., aiming to help the local aboriginal menong create a livelihood on the ground. Through the introduction of the Wakayama craftsman's plum brewing method, and insisting on the natural method of planting non-toxic plums, the plum farmers are insured for the price. From the upstream counseling and contract work, the midstream uses the Wakayama construction method to develop various plum products, and the downstream promotes products through its own brand "2021" marketing, creating a mutually beneficial and sustainable "Laomei Economic Circle".
