Chawan

This tea bowl was wheel-thrown in my small pottery workshop in Taiwan. I work from a rooftop studio that overlooks the Yamingshan mountains, which are a constant source of inspiration to me. This chawan was made from Taiwanese clay and then I applied an amber celadon glaze. When making tea bowls I always attempt to impart a feeling of freedom and asymmetry, making each piece unique and original. I hand-carved the foot ring to add to the character of the bowl.
