The Album of Paintings of Various Flowers is a collection of twelve poems written by Emperor Kangxi, accompanied by twelve kinds of flower paintings by the poet Jiang Tingxi (1669-1732). Because different colors of paper are used as the medium, the colors of the flowers painted are rich and bright. Most of the poems are taken from poems about objects from the Song and Ming dynasties. The fourth, seventh and tenth pages contain poems written by Emperor Kangxi, with the golden lotus and chrysanthemum from outside the Great Wall and the southern azalea transplanted to the palace as the themes, and the words "Man" and "Qing" are contained in them. The poem also uses the characteristics of flowers to symbolize virtues. It is a work in which Emperor Kangxi uses the chanting of flowers to illustrate the virtues of his subjects.
