Portrait Ema - Other - Wood Brown

Product Description

Combining the concept of custom portraits with Japanese Ema (wishing plaques), I hand-draw your photo on my phone. Then, using a laser engraving machine, I etch it onto naturally split wooden chips, creating a **Portrait Ema**. The naturally split wood retains its inherent grain and luster, shimmering with natural wood brilliance, completely unvarnished, showcasing the wood's true colors! Unlike sawn or sanded wood chips, its true natural form embodies pure beauty. The wood chips used come from logs roughly five centimeters square, which are difficult to utilize for other purposes, or from edge pieces less than a centimeter thick. I split these pieces by hand with a small wood splitting knife (quite like papermaking). Each chip can accommodate a maximum of two people. Due to the small size, details for each person become indiscernible if there are more than two. I would feel embarrassed to charge you for this, so I regretfully decline commissions with more than two figures. **More About Ema** Ema originated at Kifune Shrine, known for nagashi somen and kawadoko ryori. Originally, people would draw offerings for the deities, wishing for their desires to come true. The most classic Ema featured horses, but over time, various shrines evolved unique shapes and artistic styles. Recently, "itasha" (painfully cool) Ema, inspired by pop culture, have become popular in Tokyo and Kyoto. **Warranty and Repair** Each additional Portrait Ema chip costs NT$100. If a piece is damaged and needs to be remade, the cost is also NT$100. All items I personally craft come with a lifetime warranty. Should any malfunction or damage occur, regardless of whether it's due to human error, please message me to discuss. I will then provide a quote based on the parts, materials, and time required for repair.
