< Gemstone Basics 1> Agate from the Quartz Family
The agate, crystal, and chalcedony that we often hear about are actually all members of the quartz family. Their main components are silicon dioxide (SiO2), but because of the different crystal forms, those with obvious crystalline appearance are called crystals, and those with unclear crystalline appearance are called chalcedony (agate is a member of the chalcedony, especially those with layered or irregular linear arrangement patterns in the chalcedony).
In crystals, due to the different composition of trace ions inside, crystals of different colors will be formed, such as amethyst, citrine, pink quartz (rose quartz), smoky quartz, smoky quartz, and black quartz. If the crystal is wrapped with obvious associated minerals, it will form people's favorite crystals such as: green phantom, titanium crystal, three-wheel backbone crystal (super seven crystal), strawberry crystal, rabbit hair crystal, titanium crystal, hair crystal... etc.
< Gemstone Basics 2> Coral
The corals we use as ornaments are actually coral polyps in the sea that absorb calcium carbonate dissolved in seawater and use it to build skeletons to protect themselves. Corals come in many colors. Taking the most popular and common red series as an example, there are the most precious oxblood red (AKA), sardine red, Peach(MOMO), pink (Angel Ski), pink and white, to the pure white common coral fossils.
Natural coral has a soft Wax luster. After wearing it, you can use a soft cloth dipped in clean water to gently wipe off the sweat stains on the surface of the coral, then wipe it dry with a cloth and apply baby oil. Good maintenance habits can keep the beautiful luster of corals for a long time!
