The legendary octagonal basket weave rock glass - Teapots & Teacups - Glass

Product Description

We have mastered the secret techniques of hand polishing at an Edo Kiriko workshop that has been in business for over 100 years, and we have adopted this polishing method that respects tradition because it offers many benefits to users, even if it is less productive and less profitable. We strive to create interesting designs while respecting traditional designs. Product Description Product name: The elusive octagonal basket weave Dimensions: Mouth diameter φ76mm x height H90mm Capacity: 280ml Product code: SK-R-ha-151 My designs are created based on the principle of "adding small cuts to a beautiful overall frame." When designing, I always compare the overall structure to curry rice and the fine cuts that go in between to fukujinzuke pickles. However, there are many other workshops that sell pieces like this one, where the finely cut fukujinzuke is cut from the mouth to the middle or bottom, leaving the bottom visible, for over 80,000 yen as one-of-a-kind items. In other words, it is a design style with a traditional composition that is synonymous with high-quality works. This design centered around fukujinzuke was something that I didn't intentionally create as it was different from my production philosophy. However, considering the needs of users, we decided to present at least one design of this type and began developing the design. The top part has a traditional cut all over, so it's easy for anyone to come up with and there's no originality whatsoever. In fact, I'm sure many of you have seen this type of design, with its fine cuts around the mouth, dozens of times. Although there is no originality in the traditional cut, there are very few Kiriko craftsmen in Japan who can carve octagonal basket weave pieces of this size, so the cutting technique does set it apart. However, it would be far too relaxed to say that the design is overwhelmingly superior simply because of the fineness of the cut. So how does this traditional design differentiate itself? It lies in the cut that creates a transparent part at the bottom. I have created 150 pieces by myself in the past, and have accumulated data on how to make something look beautiful and how to improve its functionality as well as its appearance, and this cut incorporates that data. This part involves the serious design skills of our workshop, so we cannot disclose the details, but because the design is based on many theories, I think you can sense its beauty from the photos without any explanation. In keeping with the traditional style of the design, the patterns we choose are also primarily traditional, with an awareness of Japanese design. However, cutting any finer than this would detract from the beauty of the piece, so we have concluded that this is something that would only be done by someone who does not understand design. Therefore, I believe it will actually be the smallest in Japan. Both the traditional motifs of Yarai and Hakkaku-Kagome are imbued with the meaning of warding off evil and protecting from misfortune. The octagon has also been used in Japan since ancient times as a shape for temples and is considered to be a lucky shape. The fan and four circles are reminiscent of Japanese family crests and create a Japanese style design. The "four circles" and "cut corners" are intended to improve transparency and the feel. In addition to the consistent beauty of the traditional, high-quality shapes, our workshop's technical skills and design capabilities are fully incorporated. We hope we can be one of your options.
