Through firing, the glazes have melted and merged, creating soft, flowing patterns. The use of whiter clay accentuates the glaze colors, resulting in a lively and cheerful piece. The rimmed design makes the plate easy to hold and carry. Its depth allows it to be used as a soup bowl, and it is also perfect for pasta, stews, and other dishes. All stages of production—from clay kneading and shaping to bisque firing, glazing, and final firing—are meticulously done by hand using a small electric kiln and electric potter's wheel at my home studio. The plump, rounded form, soft texture, and slight heft convey the charm of pottery. While mass production is not possible, each piece possesses a unique character, offering the distinct charm that comes from handmade craftsmanship. To address this, we apply a water-repellent treatment to all our tableware before shipping, so there is no need for initial seasoning (medome). This treatment requires 2-3 days to complete, hence our shipping timeframe of 5 days from order placement.
