Imagine couplets adorning a room, office, or home – places that see a lot of foot traffic, or perhaps spaces for solitary living. With these images in mind, I aimed to create a collection that feels sophisticated, with delicate and cute patterns, adding a festivity to your space that isn't overwhelming. The Year of the Dragon couplets went through countless rounds of practice, selection, and refinement, as I didn't want to miss any possibility of representing the dragon across different scenarios and cultures. The final designs feature a Roly-Poly Dragon, a Dinosaur Dragon, and a Flying Dragon, along with three versatile small cat couplets. We selected paper with natural fiber textures and a rich tactile feel, printed with four-color inks on a separate plate to faithfully render the subtle layers and details of the brushstrokes.
