**Agarwood Prayer Bead Care Instructions**
(1) Agarwood is generally resistant to water from rain, sweat, and tap water. However, it should not come into contact with water containing detergents, such as soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, or especially shampoo. Therefore, it is essential to remove your agarwood bracelet when bathing or doing household chores. Laundry detergent and shower gel can degrade the agarwood, causing its aroma to fade and diminishing its original properties. If accidental contact occurs and the scent weakens, there is a remedy: gently polish the beads with fine-grit sandpaper (400# or higher) to restore the fragrance. However, it is best to avoid this situation altogether.
(2) Agarwood prayer beads are sensitive to direct sunlight. Intense sun exposure can alter the wood's quality. When wearing your agarwood beads, avoid temperatures exceeding 40°C (104°F). When not in use, store them in a sealed bag in a cool, shaded place, ensuring protection from moisture, high temperatures, and direct sunlight.
(3) Agarwood prayer beads do not require oiling or waxing like rosewood. Appreciate the natural, original scent of agarwood. Daily wear will naturally create a patina, and the aroma may subtly fade. When this occurs, placing the beads under your pillow overnight or sealing them in an airtight plastic bag will allow a gentle fragrance to be released, a characteristic of fine agarwood.
(4) Most agarwood is relatively soft and susceptible to drops and cracks; protect it from impact with hard objects and falls. When handling, be mindful of sharp objects that could cause scratches. Additionally, avoid spraying perfume while wearing agarwood, as this can disrupt its delicate fragrance and alter its natural scent.
(5) Lastly, agarwood prayer beads are believed in Buddhist and metaphysical traditions to possess a certain spiritual energy, capable of warding off evil. Therefore, maintain personal hygiene when wearing agarwood bracelets and avoid placing them carelessly. When not in use, store them in a dedicated jewelry box.
