Introduction
Hong Kong’s local rice has declined for nearly half a century, and nine out of ten farmers’ experience has been lost.
Until recent years, people have gradually started to grow rice again. The farmland is large and small, and farmers have different seniority and backgrounds. In 2017, the author visited more than ten farms in Hong Kong. Among the rice growers interviewed were full-time farmers, part-time farmers or holiday farmers, so the title of the book was named "Rice Farmers".
In today's time and space where the history of rice cultivation is almost broken, why choose to grow rice? How to re-explore planting technology? These niche stories and experiences of rice growing are the focus of this book, and are also referred to by "the technology and heritage of rice production in Hong Kong".

When I walked into Ma Shipu Village, I fell in love with the rural scenery; later I worked in the Sheung Shui Rural Society and fell in love with growing vegetables and selling vegetables; in Matsushiro, a rice town in Japan, I fell in love with rice growing. The "Earth for Me" project is being carried out in Lincun, Tai Po, to restore Hong Kong rice.
