Antique sugar bowl by Zeh Scherzer of Germany.
Manufacturers often changed the design of their backstamps to reflect new ownership or updates. Z.S. & Co. used the plain green mark with the name of the company and place of manufacture divided by a wavy line between 1880 and 1918. This tells us that this piece was manufactured somewhere within this time period.
Scherzer was established in Rehau in 1880 by Johann Nicol Adam Zeh. In 1910, it was transformed into a limited company Porzellanfabrik Zeh, Scherzer & Co. A.G. It was operational until 1992. This piece is in fairly good condition with noticeable wear of the gold on the handle as well as some small patches of wear on the print and other signs of ageing.
