By carefully controlling the thickness of each glaze application and firing at 1260°C, the piece undergoes a 20-hour transformation in the intense heat of the kiln. This process allows the glazes to shrink and flow, creating the intricate patterns and dynamic movement reminiscent of a peacock's feathers. The challenge in its creation lies in the precise control of glaze thickness and the delicate adjustment of the temperature curve. Glazes that are too thin or fired at insufficient temperatures will fail to produce the "peacock display" pattern. Conversely, glazes that are too thick or fired at excessive temperatures can cause the glaze to run onto the supporting surface, potentially damaging both the teacup and the surface itself. Even ambient temperature fluctuations can influence the final outcome. Despite years of dedicated study, the subtle variations remain difficult to predict with absolute certainty. It is precisely this inherent unpredictability that imbues each finished piece with its precious uniqueness. It is hoped that this work will inspire all to embrace hope when facing challenges, to persevere with unwavering effort, and to one day unfurl their own beautiful "feathers," illuminating their lives with brilliance!
