These are SDGs jewelry pieces featuring kintsugi, upcycled from ceramics by Shokeian, a potter based in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. We reuse cracked, chipped, or otherwise discarded ceramics, apply kintsugi, and reimagine them as accessories. Our concept is to create modern accessories that connect with the future, allowing wearers to feel closer to nature and Japan's enduring traditions, while breathing new life and possibilities into these materials. Elegant, muted white ceramic fragments are accented with freshwater pearls. The sides of the ceramic pieces are enhanced with kintsugi, where the gold beautifully catches the light from the side, adding a touch of refinement. These make a perfect accent piece for both casual and elegant outfits. This piece uses a modern, simplified kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional kintsugi with real lacquer from the lacquer tree, this method uses adhesive for the primary bonding.
