Taiwan Yokai Series Vol. 3 - The Chronicle of Strange Cats

A new work by Kao-S! Following the Taiwan Yokai Series Volume I, 'The Tale of Giants,' and Volume II, 'Island of Strange Creatures,' we welcome the new chapter after a 9-year wait: 'The Chronicle of Strange Cats'. I personally have an allergy to cat fur, but I adore cats that are peculiar and full of character. Since I cannot get close to them in reality, I choose to 'pet' them through my illustrations. I have unearthed legends of strange cats from a century ago to the present day. Beyond cats, their kin—tigers—also roar with legendary fame throughout the mountains and wilderness of Taiwan. Let me write them down and draw them out; let's see if their temperaments, both in life and in the afterlife, are even more elusive than those of humans. ❯ Did you know that cats can undergo a 'corpse transformation' into spirits? What should you do if you encounter a cat spirit causing mischief? ❯ In a textile factory, while investigating the disappearance of an employee, what was the entity that dozens of people witnessed being pursued by a sedan chair? ❯ Is there really a cat demon that demanded villagers build it a temple, leaving even the gods unable to stop it? ❯ Although there are no wild tigers in Taiwan, why are the mountains and forests filled with legends of tiger spirits? What can the mountain dwellers do about these tiger spirits? The new work, 'The Chronicle of Strange Cats,' compiles 14 stories of cat and tiger spirits from across Taiwan, illustrated as a long scroll painting! A festival procession of cat and tiger spirits is about to embark on its night patrol~~~~~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Book dimensions: 24.7x22.1cm Scroll unfolded dimensions: 87x22cm Material: High-quality art paper (heavyweight 290g) *Special ink printing, black foil stamping *Minor color variations on screen are inevitable.
