Ex-libris is a small print (or "miniature print"), which is produced by printing. To complete a bookplate, you must first design a distinctive pattern or text, and display the name of the book collector on the ticket to serve as a label for the bookplate, and then affix the printed bookplate to the back cover of the book In addition to being used as special illustrations for bibliophiles, pages can also increase the artistic value of books. Therefore, since the 15th century, bookplates have been known as "printmaking pearls" and "paper Gemstone".
Artist introduction_
Elly de Koster was born in Terneuzen, Netherlands, in 1948. She studied graphic arts at the Eeklo Art School in Belgium. Elly de Koster's bookplates are very famous among contemporary bookplate graphic artists. Not only did she display great skill and perfection in the intaglio engraving techniques she used (mainly etching and intaglio), but her mastery of painting was also extremely meticulous.
Since her bookplates are mostly hand-colored, the end result is usually outstanding.
The clever use and combination of colors, creating contrast and depth, is one of the main characteristics of Elly de Koster's creations.
