Tower of the Sun
This tower is a monumental sculpture designed by Japanese artist Taro Okamoto for the 1970 Osaka Expo. Inside the tower is the Tree of Life exhibition area, which explores the theme of biological evolution. It was reopened to the public in 2018.
During the Expo, there were many surrounding facilities and a massive rooftop platform. The Tower of the Sun pierced through the roof via a circular opening, with its head emerging and its eyes glowing, creating a futuristic scene.
As time passes and new technology replaces the old, this sculpture remains remarkably captivating even today. Osaka was the first city in Asia to host a World Expo, and another is soon to be held there again!
