Prayer beads originating from Buddhist temples and pagodas in Burma.
Cast in solid bronze alloy using a casting method.
The exact year of origin is unknown; estimated to be from the 19th-20th century.
Upon arrival in Taiwan, they have been cleaned to remove oxidation.
The beads appear bright yellow when photographed, but will naturally oxidize and darken again if not regularly handled or polished.
The alloy composition includes gold, though in a small proportion.
Cinnabar was also melted together during the refining process.
Possessing a powerful magnetic field, they are believed to ward off evil spirits and other negative entities.
They serve as excellent protective amulets, for creating sacred boundaries, and for bringing good fortune.
They have also been used in consecration rituals and for establishing protective circles.
Currently, some individuals use them for meditation and spiritual practice.
Placing them in a home altar or in a vehicle can positively influence the feng shui and magnetic field.
The set includes 7 beads of varying sizes.
Regarding the efficacy of Darlone prayer beads, much information can be found online through further research, so it will not be detailed here.
*************************
The 4 geometric patterns on the prayer beads could not be found through searches on Douyin (China's TikTok) or Google.
Even after exploring numerous websites of Burmese collectors on Facebook, which showcased artifacts like Buddha statues, wooden beads, antique beads, jewelry, and opium weights, no information pertaining to Darlone prayer beads was discovered.
This suggests that Darlone prayer beads are exceptionally rare and unique.
Currently, only three interpretations have been gathered from fellow collectors in Taiwan, offered for your reference:
The first interpretation, suggested by a seller from the northern region, identifies them as "Mercury Charms."
The second interpretation, based on the account of a dealer specializing in prayer beads, suggests they represent astrological patterns of celestial bodies such as the sun and moon.
The third interpretation, a hypothesis developed by a seller from the central region, posits that these are the earliest forms of letters from an ancient Burmese script, carrying a particularly profound and significant meaning.
These three interpretations are provided solely for collectors' reference.
*******************************
Burma is a country with strict regulations on artifact exports.
Metal artifacts such as Buddha statues and Darlone prayer beads are prohibited from being taken out of the country!
