Ivory nut (1)

The ivory palm, commonly known as the ivory nut, belongs to the Arecaceae family and the genus Ivory Coconut. It is native to the rainforests of Ecuador and Peru, particularly near the equator of South America. It grows a unique tree similar to the coconut palm, its endosperm resembling a pile of coconut pods. The fruit of this endosperm is initially liquid and crystalline, but upon maturity, it hardens and develops characteristics similar to animal ivory, with a ring pattern resembling growth rings. Its texture, hardness, and color resemble real ivory. This unique tree, known locally as "plant ivory," produces fruit called "ivory nuts," which can reach a hardness of 1.5 degrees. Ivory nuts are hard in texture and can be collected, played with as health balls, used as paperweights, ornaments, and can also replace ivory as a carving material. Each item is unique.
