Starting from a sketch, clay is molded and shaped, then allowed to dry slightly, with shaping repeated several times. The kiln is filled with enough pieces to fill it evenly, and this process takes about a month. Bisque firing takes 7 hours, after which the pieces are removed, wiped with water, and each is individually glazed before the main firing of 12 hours. Some pieces are then decorated with gold glaze and placed back in the kiln for another 7 hours. As they require slow cooling, we wait about two days after each firing before removing them from the kiln. Finally, each piece is inspected by hand, and pins are attached to those that meet the standard. The current success rate is around 70%. Although it requires a significant amount of time and effort, the result is a decorative brooch that combines the tactile feel of clay, the strength of ceramic, the luster of glaze, and the sparkle of gold accents. We hope it will be a piece that can be cherished for a long time, unchanging.
