The theme for the second OTUTUMI online shop collection is "The Fruits of Imagination." "Fruits" carries the meaning of both physical fruit and the results or products of effort. The motifs chosen this time represent both interpretations. While "imagination's produce" is often used negatively to mean something unrealistic or worthless, this collection expresses a positive interpretation: new stories born from daydreaming and the joy of imagining original, impossible colors. Vertebrates possess an ability called "Amodal Completion," where the brain mentally fills in missing parts of an object to recognize the whole. I found this concept fascinating! I applied this idea to "color," attempting to create a piece that is completed in the viewer's mind through the act of imagining the missing hues within a white fragment. Though large in size, they are very lightweight.
