50707-Exquisite French Antique Opera Glasses with Leather Case
This exquisite pair of 19th-century opera glasses (also known as lorgnettes) was immensely popular among the aristocracy and wealthy class of the era. Their primary function was to allow audiences to clearly view the details of performers and sets from a distance during operas, plays, or concerts. Simultaneously, they served as a significant fashion accessory and symbol of social status.
The main body of the glasses is beautifully adorned with Mother-of-pearl (nacre), exhibiting a stunning iridescent sheen. The metal components are gold-plated brass. The set includes a well-preserved black leather case designed to protect the binoculars, complete with a delicate brass clasp. The bottom of the leather cover is soft leather, which can be folded slightly, and is equipped with exquisite brass buckles, but due to the long history, the brass buckle cannot be tight.
The lens is well preserved, no wear, transparent and clear, the zoom is normal, and it can still be used.
