These are SDGs jewelry pieces featuring kintsugi, upcycled from ceramics created by Fukukikama, a Kyo ware and Kiyomizu ware kiln in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture.
Broken or chipped ceramics that are no longer in use are upcycled and adorned with kintsugi to be reborn as accessories.
The concept behind these pieces is to allow people to feel close to nature and Japan's enduring traditions, transforming them into modern accessories that connect to the future and open up new possibilities.
Delicate blue and white pottery fragments are paired with lapis lazuli.
Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the pottery shards, allowing the gold to shimmer from every angle and adding an elegant touch.
They sway gently as you move, adding a vibrant flourish to your ears.
These pieces are perfect as a stylish accent for both casual and elegant outfits.
Length: Pottery fragment: 12 x 13mm, Total length: 32mm
Metal fittings: Screw-back clip-on earrings (metal fittings cannot be changed)
Weight: Although made from pottery fragments, they are lightweight and comfortable to wear.
As each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind accessory, they make an ideal gift.
They are also perfect for a present to someone special.
*As these are finished, one-of-a-kind items, we cannot accept requests for changes to the metal fittings or for re-production.
*We will send the item pictured. However, if it has already been sold on another site, it may be made to order. In such cases, please note that there may be individual differences in color, pattern, and size of the pottery fragments and natural stones from the ones shown in the photos.
*"Kintsugi" is a traditional Japanese repair technique that mends broken or chipped pottery and porcelain using lacquer and gold powder. This piece is crafted using a modern, simplified kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional kintsugi that uses natural lacquer derived from the urushi tree, this piece uses adhesive for its primary bonding.
The kintsugi areas are finished with lacquer (a manufacturer-created paint, not raw urushi) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), with UV resin also used for reinforcement.
