A luxurious cup sleeve made from Tochigi leather.
The size is for commonly sold paper cups.
You can see examples of use in the first three photos.
・The first picture is a Starbucks short.
・The second photo is a Seven Cafe regular.
・The third photo is a commercially available 205 ml (7 ounce) paper cup.
The unique look is created by five pieces of leather connected with baseball stitching. All stitching is done by hand.
The handle is approximately 8 mm thick, so it feels very stable in your hand and is easy to hold even when drinking hot coffee or tea.
I personally use paper cups every day, and I wanted a sleeve that was both easy to use and fun to look at, so I made this. I made it for my studio, but when I served coffee to customers, they said they wanted it too, so I decided to sell it.
The lustrous colour is characteristic of aniline finished leather.
It retains the original look of the leather while also giving the grain surface a wet-looking luster.
If you spill a drink, wipe it off quickly with a tissue.
If you notice it after it has dried, it is best not to try to remove it by rubbing it off, so that you can continue using it in its beautiful condition. It will gradually become less noticeable as it ages.
Generally, you do not need to use oil or cream for leather. Just a little oil from your palm will be enough. If the leather is completely dry, apply a thin layer of delicate cream.
We hope you enjoy its rustic appearance, soft feel, and the way it ages over the years to a amber color.
How about a sleeve made of high-quality leather and crafted with great care for your usual coffee time?
[What is Tochigi Leather?]
The pores and blood vessels (proof that it was alive) are still intact, and when you put your nose close to it, you can smell a faint, fragrant scent.
"Tochigi Leather", which conveys the original natural charm of cowhide, is cowhide that has been tanned from "skin" to "leather" by Tochigi Leather Co., Ltd. (Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture).
This is full vegetable tanned leather, without the use of harmful chemicals, using tannins extracted from mimosa bark. It is the finest cowhide, tanned through 20 laborious processes that have been handed down since the company was founded in 1937.
Tochigi Leather, which has the natural appeal of leather and its texture, is highly regarded by leading apparel manufacturers not only in Japan but also overseas.
