IsLand of Hues - A Hong Kong travel bag

Our design utilises an iconic material that are often found in the city of Hong Kong. This colourful canvas-like fabric is used to make shelters for people and fragile materials in construction sites, building facades, streets and alleyways. Yet, with the extensive usage, a large amount of off-cut still unfortunately still end up as waste or unusable. We see the opportunity to bring light to these potential wastages, presenting the spirit of Hong Kong. The words written on the bags are collected from improvised handwrittings around the city. Together with the fabric, the bag tells a cohesive story that is embedded within the material itself. As people carry them, the touches and the words may bring a taste of Hong Kong, wherever we are.
