Overview:
Selin is a triangular shawl knitted from one point to another, entirely in Half Fisherman's Rib. While the front and back of this rib pattern have slightly different appearances, both offer a unique charm, allowing either side to be considered the "right side."
Gauge / Using 3.5 mm needles:
26 sts x 32 rows = 10 cm (in Stockinette stitch, measured after blocking)
21 sts x 38 rows = 10 cm (in Half Fisherman's Rib, measured after blocking)
Finished Measurements:
The sample shawl measures approximately 136 cm in length and 38 cm at its widest point.
The size of this shawl and the yarn weight can be adjusted to your preference. Begin knitting from one point, following the pattern instructions to increase stitches until you reach your desired length (which will be half the total desired length of the shawl). Then, follow the pattern instructions to decrease stitches until you reach the other end. As the Half Fisherman's Rib fabric is relatively thick, it is recommended to avoid using excessively thick yarn to prevent the finished piece from becoming too bulky and difficult to drape.
Yarn:
Cardiff Cashmere, Classic, 100% Cashmere, 25g / 112m. Color No.709 LIFE: 4 balls, approx. 448m.
Needle Size:
3.5 mm
