By carefully controlling the thickness of each glaze application and firing at 1260°C, it undergoes a 20-hour transformation in the kiln. This intense heat causes the glaze to contract and flow, creating the intricate patterns and dynamic movement reminiscent of peacock feathers. The challenge in its creation lies in the precise control of glaze thickness and the delicate adjustment of the firing temperature curve. Too thin or insufficient heat will prevent the formation of the peacock feather pattern, while too thick or excessive heat can cause the glaze to run onto the accompanying plate, potentially damaging both the cup and the plate. Even ambient temperature variations can influence the final outcome. Numerous factors interplay, and despite years of dedicated practice, achieving perfect predictability remains elusive. It is precisely this inherent variability that imbues each finished piece with its unique preciousness. It is my hope that this creation inspires resilience, encouraging everyone to embrace hope when facing adversity and to persevere with unwavering effort.
