Naupaka is a Hawaiian flower with two varieties: the Beach Naupaka (Naupaka Kahakai) and the Mountain Naupaka (Naupaka Kuahiwi). Because it looks like a flower torn in half, a beautiful legend remains in Hawaii: "There was a young couple who loved each other deeply. Goddess Pele fell in love with the man, unaware he already had a lover. Enraged by jealousy, Pele tore them apart, chasing the woman to the sea and the man to the mountain so they could never meet again. It is said they turned into these half-shaped flowers, forever longing for each other. Legend says if you bring the sea and mountain flowers together, the lovers' souls will finally be reunited." These earrings feature hand-formed Naupaka flowers accented with Turquoise (representing the sea) and Yellow Tiger's Eye (representing the mountain). You can wear them on either side.
