**Pink Opal**
Pink Opal is a rare and special variety of opal, found in Peru and Mexico. It is a "non-play-of-color" opal. Unlike the vibrant play-of-color opals, it exudes a tender and soft charm, earning it the nickname "Angel's Skin" and symbolizing love and peace.
High-quality pink opals are characterized by uniform color, opacity, a warm and delicate texture, solid structure, and the absence of cracks or significant flaws.
**Opal (Australian Opal, Opal)**
Opals are found in many locations, but Australia is the primary source, leading to its designation as Australia's national gemstone. It is the only gemstone known to humanity capable of displaying rainbow-like colors, earning it the reputation of "possessing the beauty of many gemstones."
Records of opals in Europe date back to around 100 BC. The ancient Greeks named this gemstone with its dazzling, shifting colors "Opallions," meaning "to see the change (of color)."
Opal is a silicon dioxide mineral. During its crystallization process, it readily incorporates minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium, and copper, resulting in various colors. Other well-known gemstones in the silicon dioxide family include the crystal family, which represents a perfect crystallization of silicon dioxide. Conversely, during the crystallization of opal, spherical silica spheres gradually form. The spaces between these spheres (fractures) interact with light, refracting different colors, a phenomenon known as play-of-color. This type of play-of-color opal accounts for about 10% of the opal family. Non-play-of-color opals primarily exhibit white, black, gray, red, orange, yellow, green, and blue hues, with purple being rare.
Opal has a long history rich with auspicious legends. In ancient Roman times, opals were believed to be amulets that brought good luck. They also symbolized pure love, hence the name "Cupid's Stone." In the late 7th century, Shakespeare described opal as "the queen of magical gems." Eastern history regarded opals as the "anchor of hope."
Opal is the birthstone for October.
With its full spectrum of seven colors, opal corresponds to the seven chakras, making it an all-encompassing gemstone.
**Pearl**
The English word "Pearl" originates from the Latin word "Pemnla," meaning "child of the sea." Throughout history, in both Eastern and Western cultures, pearls have symbolized health, purity, and nobility, and are the birthstone for June.
Pearls, amber, and coral are the world's three major organic gemstones, with pearls often hailed as the king of organic gemstones.
Pearls are formed within mollusks like oysters and mussels. Their primary chemical component is calcium carbonate. They have low hardness and are soluble in acids and alkalis. Therefore, pearls should not be in prolonged contact with coarse fabrics or hard objects, and should be kept away from cosmetics, perfumes, dyes, and any chemicals. Oiling pearls is also not recommended.
Pearls boast a magnificent and diverse range of colors, with a delicate and soft luster. They can be found in warm tones such as yellow, gold, orange, pink, and creamy white, as well as cool tones like green, blue, indigo, purple, and gray.
Pearls can form naturally or be cultured. Currently, 99% of pearls on the market are cultured.
Natural pearls are primarily found in the Persian Gulf region and India, as well as freshwater pearls from Tennessee, USA.
Japan has the most mature technology for cultured pearls and produces the highest quality. Other regions include China, Tahiti, Australia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Myanmar in the South Seas.
Cultured pearls can be categorized into four types:
1. Solid-core cultured pearls - Tend to be round. (Perfectly round natural pearls are extremely rare.)
2. Keshi pearls - Nucleus beads are attached to the shell, allowing the pearl to grow around the nucleus.
3. Mabe pearls - Derived from the Japanese pronunciation "Mabe Shinju," these are half-round pearls, also known as "bun pearls" or "half-round pearls."
4. Nucleus-free cultured pearls - Freshwater cultured pearls. As they lack a nucleus, they are used for making pearl powder.
**Mother-of-Pearl Inlay (Luodian) Craftsmanship**
Luodian is a decorative craft that involves inlaying the shells of mollusks (such as abalone shells, green-lip mussels, abalone, pearl oysters, nautilus shells, tortoiseshell, conch shells, etc.) onto the surface of objects. It is named for the shimmering luster of the shells, and is also known as Luodian Zi, Luodian, Luotian, or Dianqian.
Luodian craftsmanship originated in China during the Zhou Dynasty and flourished in the Tang Dynasty, exclusively used by officials and nobles. It later spread to Korea and Japan. Around the 14th century, through maritime trade, it reached the Ryukyu Islands and Southeast Asia. This technique is now practiced throughout East Asia and is most commonly found on woodwork, but can also be applied to lacquerware, bronze, and gold items.
**Amethyst**
Its name comes from the ancient Greek words "a-" (not) and "methustos" (drunk), as it was believed to protect its wearer from intoxication. Therefore, ancient Greeks wore amethyst and used it to make drinking vessels to prevent drunkenness. Amethyst is believed to enhance wisdom and help calm the mind, earning it the nickname "the sober stone."
Lavender Amethyst has a more delicate and elegant purple hue, representing higher-level, spiritual, and mental love.
Since ancient times, amethyst (purple gemstones) has symbolized divine power and represented authority and status in many cultures. In Japan, amethyst is called the "stone of energy"; in Europe, it is known as the "Eye of Vienna"; in Indian yoga chakra theory, the energy emitted by amethyst is a gentle, wise magnetic field, corresponding to the "third eye chakra" and "crown chakra" of the human body, possessing a calming and soothing effect.

**◈ On Care and Collection**
1. Natural gemstones possess natural luster and unique textures (such as tiny black spots, stone lines, internal fractures, clouds, mineral inclusions, asymmetry, and other natural details). With frequent wear, you may observe subtle color changes in natural gemstones, which often become more translucent and captivating, serving as the best form of maintenance.
Natural organic gemstones (such as coral, amber, pearls, and giant clams) have low hardness and are sensitive to acids and alkalis. When soiled, avoid washing with detergent. Simply rinse with clean water and wipe with a soft cloth. You can also use a soft brush dipped in a small amount of mineral oil (such as baby oil) for gentle care.
2. Metal jewelry has a long lifespan, provided it is protected from external force or strong acids and alkalis that could cause fading.
3. Fabric materials (ribbon, cotton, gauze) are soft and comfortable, with a long lifespan, but should be kept away from high temperatures, external force, or strong acids and alkalis that could cause fading.
4. For any jewelry, when soiled, wipe with a soft cloth dampened with water as appropriate, or use a suitable amount of neutral detergent for suitable materials. After washing, ensure it is dried promptly.
5. When jewelry is removed, it should be properly packaged and stored to minimize exposure to air and slow down oxidation and discoloration. Avoid stacking or pressing.
