_Guangcai
The craftsmanship of Yuedong Magnetic Works originated from the "Guangcai" lineage. As early as the Yong and Qian years of the Qing Dynasty, Guangzhou was open to trade, and the so-called "export porcelain" business was popular. Later, foreigners felt that the style of Jingdezhen porcelain was too Chinese, so thirteen merchants hired local porcelain masters to go to Guangzhou to customize new porcelain patterns for them, thus establishing the Guangcai sect.
Liu Zifen, a novice folk scholar, said in his "Zhuyuan Pottery Theory": "Europeans valued Chinese porcelain, and Chinese merchants took advantage of it. They fired white porcelain in Jingdezhen, shipped it to Guangdong, hired more craftsmen, and painted it in imitation of Western painting methods. , in Henan on the Pearl River, they baked and dyed it, made colored porcelain and sold it to Western merchants. The cover was purchased from Jingdezhen, and the color painting was added by the factory in Henan, Guangdong." This is about this cultural history.
The techniques used on this disc are especially Canton Rose, a very representative pattern of Guangcai. The red rose head is painted by the artist with white hands. After "washing and skimming", the color of the petals is washed out with a brush to create a shading effect, and then the petals are outlined. Stripes are created to make the flower head lifelike. This process is also called "tart flower head".
Among them, the "flower heart with the character longevity" is also one of the most popular Guangcai patterns. Six longevity characters are surrounded by colorful blooming flower patterns, which form an auspicious and delicate Guangcai pattern.
