【Work name】Wooden Walkman
【Size】30 x 30 x 10 cm
【Medium】Wood
【 introduction】
This is a unique wooden product made from scratch
It has doors that can be opened and closed, as well as removable cassettes and earphones.
The inspiration for making this piece comes from my childhood fantasy:
When people can use a mini device called a "walkman" to wear music on their belts and take them away.
This thing was like magic to me when I was a kid.
But now, it is already a very old technology product.
【Artist Profile】
Mike Leavitt's life is constructed by two elements-art and toys. He combines painting, sculpture, design, satire and other elements with vulgar art harmoniously and perfectly in his works. As the so-called "key child" of the time, Leavitt was born into the generation of divorced baby boomers and Saturday morning cartoon children, and grew up in the Iraq War for more than ten years. Growing up, he was surrounded by toys and puppets of unknown author, so he determined his goal to let the people behind the creation be seen by the world. He sculpted desperately and produced hundreds of small sculptures, which were circulated in every corner of the world. Mike Leavitt is a freak who makes dolls in the basement all day long. However, he is speaking strongly for an era that desires real action heroes.
