Leather, moistened with water, is closely pressed against the mold and slowly dried over a full day. This is a method where form is cultivated through time. The mold used was an antique wooden mold for making a Japanese confection called Rakugan. Tools that have passed through the hands of confection artisans, and traditional leather techniques. Crafts from different fields have met, giving rise to this scallop shell form. After drying, the pieces are adhered together, carefully cut out, and then subjected to repeated polishing of the edges (cobalt). This imbues the leather's edges with a quiet luster, lending tension to the outline. The large scallop shell presents a form with deeper undulations and a wider spread.
