When it comes to monogram patterns, LV is undoubtedly the most widely recognized. However, CELINE's monogram actually predates LV's!
CELINE's monogram dates back to the 1870s. It was later discontinued for a long period, and only recently revived under a new creative director.
However, who came first in the fashion world isn't really that important. Look at how LV, despite appearing later, has dominated the monogram scene for so many years and remains strong.
While CELINE's monogram is considered a senior, it's only in recent years, with the revival of monogram designs, that it has gained widespread recognition...
In essence, every brand has its own monogram pattern, much like their logos. It all comes down to personal preference. Before its revival, Celine's monogram was a breath of fresh air in the pre-owned market, with classic patterns, a variety of bag styles, and affordable prices. Sadly, those days are gone.
After the new collection's revival, the prices of almost all monogram bags have steadily increased, with some bag shapes that closely resemble the new designs seeing a sharp surge.
Many people who had never bought pre-owned items before have also entered the vintage world because of the monogram. When you compare them, you'll see what "new is not as good as old" truly means.
Celine's monogram perfectly embodies the saying "new is not as good as old." The level of detail in the pattern alone shows a significant difference.
The monogram pattern in the revived new designs is enlarged, but the edges are noticeably blurred (perhaps by design!?).
With the old monogram, you wouldn't see such blurry edges even with a magnifying glass. Of course, this is also due to different eras and design needs. In recent years, the pattern designs of various brands have leaned towards enlarging and amplifying, whether it's a large LOGO or a large brand name.
Now that Celine is part of the LV group, the new designs we see have a unified and group-like feel.
There's a "urban legend" that everyone who buys pre-owned bags must have a Celine in their collection because their vintage styles are so numerous and unlikely to be duplicated.
(Personally, I feel that new designs simply cannot compete with vintage styles due to the significant difference in craftsmanship and material quality. You can easily find complaints online about the poor quality of new items from major brands...)
This is a cute, small, puffy square bag, and it's a drawstring style that many people love. It's not rare, but it's not commonly seen either.
The edges of the bag are rounded, making it suitable for both tall and petite individuals. Plus, this size is very practical.
It can fit any model of phone, long, medium, or short wallets, cardholders, tissues, and sanitizing products. All your basic essentials can fit with room to spare, offering very friendly capacity. The brown monogram is a timeless classic. Many people have a brown monogram as one of their first pre-owned bags because they last so long.
The simplest pairings are striking: pair it with a coat or a sweater dress in autumn and winter, or with a small tank top and jeans or wide-leg pants in spring and summer.
In recent years, monogram patterns have been prominent in the fashion world, with almost every brand releasing them because they are so classic!
You've probably all heard or seen the saying "trends are cyclical" more than once. Let's take a moment to reflect, and I'll confess:
In my childhood, monogram patterns were considered "mom-level" (I even disliked them back then...), but look at us now – you, me, and even little girls are chasing them!
Classics truly stand the test of time, so let's cherish and use our vintage bags well. They can definitely accompany us through many cycles.

⚐⚑˒˒ The bag is in good condition, with the exterior being close to pristine. The main flaw is the interior (explained below). This style is not common.
The front and back of the bag have no scratches, scuffs, or stains. The monogram coating is intact and has a natural sheen.
The bottom and side corners show no wear. The leather trim around the entire bag is beautifully colored, a cinnamon hue, not a deep brown!
There is no peeling on the entire bag, only very light signs of use, noticeable only upon close inspection.
The leather tag with the embossed Arc de Triomphe on the front has slight creases but looks incredibly cool, like lightning-shaped lines connecting to the Arc de Triomphe.
The most significant flaw is the interior. The piping leather shows some signs of aging upon close inspection, but there is no stickiness or peeling. It's perfectly fine for normal use and won't be visible.
The drawstring area shows light signs of use but is in good condition. The entire drawstring is intact and shows no peeling or aging issues. The color is the same cinnamon as the bag.
The shoulder strap is original and can be fully detached and adjusted for length. The buckle is a beautiful golden hue with no signs of oxidation, discoloration, or gold loss.
The leather strap shows minimal signs of use, is also a beautiful cinnamon color, and has a natural leather sheen. The entire strap is intact with no peeling or aging issues.
Overall, the exterior is in excellent condition, looking very new when worn, with a beautiful and gentle color. There are no significant flaws on the exterior.
The interior has minor signs of aging, which is why the price is more affordable. This style is uncommon in Japan, especially in such a clean condition.

The main reason I love pre-owned bags is that the materials from the old days were far superior to modern new ones.
In the past, most pre-owned items were handmade, with the warmth of craftsmanship rather than mass production.
The skill of artisans is far more delicate than machines, just as everyone loves products made by skilled craftspeople!
However, today, most processes are done by machines with minimal human assembly, losing the delicacy of the past.
I think the simplest and most direct way to see this is to compare the new revived monogram from recent years with the authentic old monogram.
The level of detail in the monogram pattern alone is completely different. If you love monograms, you must look for pre-owned items! Truly!
In terms of style, older designs were more simple, timeless, and enduring. Nowadays, many new designs are actually revivals of old ones.
However, new designs are priced higher than old ones. New designs are usually based on old models with added details or design changes.
The final product often ends up being more complex (or strange......) than the old models. I believe as we grow older, we understand one thing better:
the simpler, the more enduring! As we age, even our clothing tends to return to basic styles because the more basic, the more versatile.
The quality of materials in older models is also better than in new ones. If you understand leather, you'll see that the materials in new items are mostly inferior to older ones.
The main reason is that the cost of high-quality raw materials is too high now, and their availability is less than before. Earth's resources are dwindling!
Furthermore, brands back then didn't have the "ubiquitous" presence of stores everywhere like they do now... The customer base mostly had a certain income and high expectations for the finished product. There wasn't the "fast fashion culture" back then; a bag was expected to be used for many years.
The difference between new and old eras is very evident in the hardware. Many new bags' hardware oxidizes and discolors after a year or two,
but old models usually don't. Besides the high-quality materials and meticulous craftsmanship, hardware from earlier eras was often plated with real K gold!
It's worth mentioning that Chanel Vintage is expensive for a reason; many of its clasps and chains contain real gold, certified by gold merchants!
So, even vintage bags from as early as the 60s and 70s, if properly preserved, can still shine brightly today.
As for the new models available now, from what I know, none of the brands use K gold in their hardware anymore, which is why it oxidizes easily.
Many people say that buying a vintage bag is a form of alternative investment because they rarely depreciate and only increase in value.
This is because the number of pre-owned bags in good condition on the market is decreasing, and each one that disappears is gone forever. Remember, each of them is discontinued.
There are only as many existing in the world as there are, so their numbers will only decrease, becoming more expensive and harder to find.
Moreover, many brands increase their prices periodically, and each increase drives up the prices in the pre-owned market.
Or, if a brand releases a "revival model," the vintage reference or similar styles will see a sharp price increase!
Add to this the fact that Japanese and Korean celebrities have been favoring vintage items in recent years. Once a particular style is seen on a celebrity, its price skyrockets – truly skyrockets.
Because during that period, many people will frantically search for that style or a similar alternative, and the prices of those few styles will increase exponentially...
So, vintage is truly a case of "buy early, enjoy longer; buy late, pay more" (this is not an advertising slogan... it's the truth in the pre-owned world...).
This is my personal experience; I regret not getting into certain collections earlier... I can't find them, and if I do, they come with an exorbitant price tag...
But the problem is, even when you know it's an exorbitant price, you're forced to buy it because waiting for the next one will only mean a higher price (unless the condition is poor).
I'm often asked about bag maintenance (ᐢ.ˬ.ᐢ). I'll include a small note with details inside the bag, so don't worry.
My personal habit is to take them out for maintenance when I'm organizing my closet during seasonal changes (so it's quite a project each season... |||).
Actually, pre-owned bags aren't that troublesome. When you're new to it, you just need to get used to regular maintenance and cherishing the bag. Once you form the habit, it's not difficult.
The materials of pre-owned bags are inherently excellent. As long as you don't use them roughly and preserve them properly, they can easily last another ten years to be passed down to your daughter!
Every pre-owned bag is one I love and have collected, so I hope you will love it too and preserve it well ☪︎ *.。
