Protecting whale sharks starts with you and me.
The waters off Koh Losin in Pattani, Thailand, are a sanctuary for whale sharks. However, human activities such as severe pollution from waste and overfishing have led to a drastic decline in their numbers.
Through the collaboration between Qualy and Enjametha Ceramic, we are reminded of the importance of peaceful coexistence with the ocean and respecting each other for a sustainable future.
Cup Body: In collaboration with Enjametha Ceramic, a renowned local ceramics brand in Pattani, artists have blended local Pattani soil with fine sand from Panarae Beach. This mixture is presented on a glossy surface, revealing the soil's texture and reflecting the fine sand on the cup, offering a tactile experience as if touching the earth itself.
Glazing: The matte finish harmoniously blends with the traditional clay, fired at a high temperature of 1270°C. Each delicate glaze exhibits multi-layered coatings, reminiscent of the traces left by waves lapping against golden sands, creating unique ripples around the cup.
Cup Rim: Designed like a wine glass, the rim enhances the capture of aromas, allowing for a clear enjoyment of the fragrance and layers of coffee or tea.
Base Spiral: The spiral pattern at the base symbolizes natural growth. Each cup possesses its own unique proportions, much like a fingerprint, making every piece one-of-a-kind.
Whale Shark Handle: Crafted from recycled fishing nets collected through the Net Free Seas initiative by the prominent international environmental organization EJF.
※ Heat resistant up to 110°C
