ฅ( ̳• ·̫ • ̳ฅ)♡ I am the leopard cat, Taiwan's last remaining wild feline. This land is my home. ꕀ Also known as the "mountain cat," the leopard cat's appearance and habits can easily be confused with other feline species. There have even been reports of people mistakenly trying to raise them as ordinary kittens. Before the year 2000, leopard cats were viewed by farmers as "chicken thieves." Besides raising dogs to ward them off, people resorted to poison bait and traps. Coupled with habitat destruction from excessive development, these precious animals have gradually dwindled in number. Leopard cats have disappeared from many areas or migrated elsewhere, and tragically, many are victims of roadkill while traveling. Although each leopard cat shares common physical traits, they possess unique personalities. Perhaps in this lifetime, we can only glimpse leopard cats through various television and internet imagery. However, this might not be a bad thing. It allows leopard cats to roam freely in nature, undisturbed by human presence, and to live lives free from harassment. Their likenesses are preserved through art, remaining in our collective memory. ꕀ We've created postcards, badges, and stickers. A portion of the proceeds from sales will be donated to the "Leopard Cat Conservation Association." We hope to contribute, in our own small way, to raising awareness about leopard cats, their current plight, and to inspire collective efforts to protect them!
