Brass oxidizes and darkens with prolonged exposure to moisture, and elastic cords can lose their elasticity over time when exposed to water. However, for clasp closures, it's harder to remove and wear. Testing shows that wearing it for 3 months without removal only resulted in slight darkening of the brass. It's best to avoid contact with brushes and cleaning agents during showers.
