- The Qing emperors had a rule that they would write "Fu" with a brush as a reward to their ministers. The precedent began in the reign of Emperor Kangxi and continued until the reign of Emperor Qianlong. On the first day of every twelfth month, the palace would hold a ceremony to "write Fu". On this day, the emperor would first go to the Beihai Guanfu Temple to burn incense and pay respects, then return to the Shufangzhai in Chonghua Palace to write Fu with a brush that reads "Ci Fu Cang Sheng".
