Single-Plank Cypress Tissue Case with Rear Slide Lid

I find myself fond of the gentle "thunk" sound this tissue case makes when the lid is closed. It’s neither too light nor too heavy, possessing a presence that is both distinct and serene, much like a beam of light piercing through the morning mist in the mountains. The material is cypress wood sourced from Midori City, Gunma Prefecture. Crafted from a single plank, carefully sawn at a local lumber mill, it showcases the uninterrupted grain of the wood. The inherent softness and straightforward strength of the timber converge within this box, transforming a simple daily necessity into a cherished tool. This tissue case is available in two distinct forms. One is the "Drop-lid type." Its structure is elegantly simple and clean, with the lid effortlessly placed on top. The satisfying fit of the lid and the ease with which tissues can be drawn out are its key attractions. This design is ideal for those who wish to showcase the box itself or incorporate it as a striking accent in their living space. The other is the "Slide-type (rear window opening)." This design features a sliding window on the bottom for refilling tissues, offering a more streamlined appearance. It might be more practical for households with children or in areas where tissues are frequently replaced. Each form offers its own unique user experience. What both types share is their substantial "weight." The stability is more profound than its appearance suggests, providing the reassurance that the box won't shift even when a tissue is pulled out with one hand. This weight is a testament to the living nature of the wood and its grounded presence in any space. The smooth texture is palpable to the touch. It is polished with planes and sandpaper, then finished with beeswax. With no additional coating, you can fully enjoy the natural aroma and texture of the cypress. The gently rising fragrance offers moments that invite a deep, calming breath. This tissue case also makes a thoughtful gift. Perfect for celebrating new births, weddings, or housewarmings. Items that are not immediately essential but are enduring treasures can be surprisingly difficult to find for gifting. This box, however, promises to be a constant reminder of the giver with every use. The price for both types is ¥4,400 (tax included). We hope you will take your time to choose the form that best suits your lifestyle. By intentionally giving a refined treatment to the often-overlooked presence of "tissues," one can experience a subtle shift towards a more unhurried pace of life. We invite you to discover this slower rhythm, accompanied by this small wooden box.
