Upon closer inspection, it wasn’t a rabbit, but a frog…
This is a lucky charm, a frog disguised as a rabbit. During the moon-viewing season, you can place it by your entrance or window to enjoy the autumn atmosphere.
The set includes a small offering table (Sanpo) and moon-viewing Japanese sweets dumpling balls (Tsukimi dango).
Both frogs and rabbits are known for their hopping, so combining the two might bring double the luck…!
As autumn deepens, the air clears, and the moon becomes more vivid and beautiful. In the distance, it seems that a rabbit is pounding rice cakes… but it wasn’t a rabbit after all.
Upon closer inspection, it was a frog. Their hopping movements were so similar that I mistook one for the other.
Quietly, the frog reached out, sneaked Tsukimi dango, and said...
“Is it only in nature that one disguises themselves in a similar form to blend into society...?”
With those words, the frog hopped away into the pampas grass, disappearing into the moonlight.
