<About the Asanoha Mon (Hemp Leaf Pattern)>
Used since the Heian period to adorn Buddhist statues, it became a hugely popular kimono pattern in the Edo period and remains one of Japan's representative designs, still featured in various products today.
<Italian Buttero Leather × Domestic Barolo Leather>
Buttero leather is produced in the Tuscany region of Italy by a small tannery called Walpier. It is a vegetable-tanned (oiled) leather. The leather used is from the shoulder of steers, a limited area per animal, making it known as a rare and high-quality leather.
Crafted using traditional vegetable-tanning methods passed down in Tuscany and dyed with natural colorants from flowers and bark,
it offers a rustic warmth that truly embodies the essence of leather.
The greatest charm of Buttero leather, however,
is undoubtedly its beautiful "aging process."
Because the material has densely packed fibers,
as vegetable oils are gradually added over time, they slowly emerge on the surface.
With careful use, it develops a dynamic and beautiful "deepening of color and luster" that sets it apart from other leathers.
For this piece, we have chosen Green, a color that allows you to enjoy the aging process the most.
Additionally,
on the interior, we have used Barolo (domestic vegetable-tanned leather), which is characterized by its gentle yet beautiful aging process.
The combination of Buttero and Barolo creates a difference in the speed of color and texture changes as they age, resulting in a beautiful contrast. Over time, this wallet will continue to present a captivating appearance, leaving no room for boredom.
The intersection of the Asanoha Mon, European leathers, and modern curved design
creates a unique atmosphere reminiscent of Japan's Taisho era, where various cultures mingled and intertwined, heralding a new era. This has resulted in the completion of a truly enchanting wallet.
