In Tainan, many beautiful old buildings stand, with Hayashi Department Store being the most renowned. Yet, those that have faded with time are often overlooked. Some of these structures may bear the scars of war, their appearances altered. Others may have succumbed to the march of progress, replaced by modern constructions. While such transformations are a natural part of human civilization's evolution to meet changing needs, from a historical perspective, if these old buildings had survived, more people could have understood the city's history and its unique character through them. While drawing these postcards, I gathered numerous old photographs of these buildings. To faithfully capture their details, I often cross-referenced multiple images from various angles, reconstructing them on paper through perspective drawing, bringing them back to life on the page.
