The fruits of imagination Grape

The theme for the second installment of the OTUTUMI online shop is "Fruits of Imagination." The word "Fruits" signifies not only literal fruit but also accomplishments, results, and products. We chose this motif to encompass both meanings. While "fruits of imagination" often carries a somewhat negative connotation, implying something unrealistic or without meaning or value, our works aim to express the positive sense of imagination—giving birth to new narratives and envisioning original, captivating colors that transcend reality. There's a fascinating concept called "amodal completion," a cognitive ability possessed by most vertebrates, where the brain perceives a whole object even when parts of it are hidden. We were inspired by this idea and decided to apply the concept of "missing parts" to "color." Our pieces are an exploration of creating works that are completed in the viewer's mind, where they engage in the act of imagining the missing white portions, allowing their brains to fill in the gaps and complete the artwork. These pieces are large yet remarkably lightweight. Our special focus is on the stems! For those who love intricate textures, these are for you. Inspired by wild grapes, they feature a subtly charming color palette.
