Vegetable-tanned leather, as the name suggests, is leather tanned using **natural plant-based tannins**. It's an umbrella term for leather tanned using the tannins from plants for preservation, representing the **oldest and most traditional method of leather tanning**. The characteristic of this type of leather is its initial **light, skin-like color**. Over time, through exposure to sunlight, use, air, and moisture, it gradually deepens to a caramel hue or even darker, making your leather goods more beautiful and lustrous with age. We select leather that **undergoes no surface treatment**. Just like human skin, cattle in their natural growth develop **natural grain patterns and minor imperfections**. Surface treatments are akin to makeup, concealing all flaws. Therefore, **leather with significant surface issues typically requires such treatments**. Therefore, **special maintenance oils are not necessary for care**. Furthermore, the natural oils from your skin also condition the leather, making **frequent use the best form of maintenance for your leather goods**. If the leather gets wet, simply **air dry it in the shade**. If it becomes dry due to frequent water exposure, you may apply a thin layer of leather conditioner sparingly. **Do not use lotions or petroleum jelly-based products**, as these can clog the leather's pores and potentially damage the item. For regular storage, keep your leather goods in a cool, well-ventilated place to prevent excessive moisture and mold.
