【Records of Beautiful Flowers and Begonia】
"Records of Beautiful Flowers群芳小記" is included in Liáng Shíqiū's(梁實秋) prose collection "Living with One Heart心守一事去生活." The book mainly describes three kinds of flowers: the Begonia, the Magnolia figo, and the Syringa. Liáng Shíqiū wrote, "there are many types of Begonia, with the Malus Micromalus being the most abundant. Its posture surpasses that of the Chaenomeles speciosa and the Malus halliana." This shows the beauty of the Malus Micromalus. He also quotes poems by the Ming dynasty poets Yuán Shìyuán袁士元 and Liú Déyì劉德彝, and further explains how Emperor Xuānzōng of Tang compared the Yang Guifei, who had just woken up from a nap in the spring sunlight, to a begonia blossom. The crabapple blossoms he saw were high and towering, with flowers in full bloom with green leaves like hair and red flowers like cheek. They are charming and seductive in the spring breeze. Based on this as the core of the creation, this hairpin was made.
【Scientific Principles】
Plastic is a polymer compound that can be divided into two types based on processing properties: "thermoplastic" and "thermosetting":
◆ Thermoplastics
These plastics have a chain-like or branched structure, and their molecules can move freely at high temperatures. They do not undergo chemical reactions when heated but rather soften and deform. They can be repeatedly heated and softened, melted, and solidified upon cooling. Most plastic food containers and packaging are made of thermoplastics, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) used for making packaging films and preservation boxes, polyethylene (PE) used for milk bottles and plastic bags, and polypropylene (PP) used for soy milk bottles, garbage cans, etc. Other examples include polystyrene (PS), ABS, etc.
◆ Thermosetting Plastics
These plastics have a network structure and are formed by crosslinking reactions. Before being manufactured, they are heated and undergo irreversible chemical reactions such as vulcanization. After forming, they cannot be reshaped by reheating. Only specific plastic food containers and packaging use thermosetting plastics. Common examples include melamine resin used for making reusable plastic tableware, polycarbonate used for making water bottles, and polyether sulfones used for making high-temperature-resistant containers for food utensils, medical devices, electronic components, etc.
We used the shrinkage characteristic of thermoplastic plastic to make the plum blossoms. When heated, it shrinks and thickens. Therefore, by changing the heating time of the heat-shrinkable sheet by moving the heat gun, the petals have a shape with a thick tip and a thin edge.
【Product Information】
◆ Material: plastic, copper wire, hairpin (wood, bamboo, etc.)
◆ Size: 22×5×3 cm
【Customization】
The hairpin part can be freely selected:
◆ Wooden hairpin: relatively stable, can be coiled separately
◆ Bamboo hairpin: more beautiful
◆ Metal hairpin: gold and silver, can be coiled; if the hair is longer, it is recommended to choose a wooden hairpin
◆ U-shaped hairpin: gold and silver, suitable for decoration after hairpin
【Precautions】
◆ The branches are made of paulownia wire as the skeleton, which can be bent gently
◆ The product is made to order, and the construction period is about 7-10 working days (excluding holidays). If you need it urgently, please contact us
◆ Since the products are all handmade, there may be slight differences in color and shape
◆ If it is dirty, please wipe gently with a thin cotton
◆ Please put it in a strong box when not in use to avoid deformation of the flowers
◆ Do not get wet
