This chawan was wheel thrown in Taiwan, using local Taiwan clay. After I threw this bowl I then hand carved a foot ring to add more character. While I was throwing the tea bowl I used wooden sticks to create various marks in sections of the pot. I did this because I wanted to create a bowl that gave the impression it went through hard times but is still here to tell the story. A test of its resilience.
I glazed this chawan with a traditional Japanese shino. I have two different shino glazes. I used both when glazing this pot.
Gas fired for 14 hours.
My seal is stamped at the base near the carved foot.
