Old decorative wall plate from the "Visch" series made by Petrus Regout.. The Royal Sphinx factory was established by Petrus Regout in 1834 in Maastricht, and it later changed to Petrus Regout & Co. In 1899 the company's name was changed to De Sphinx, and it merged with Société Céramique in 1958. It became Royal Sphinx in 1960 and stayed operational until 2010.
The mark at the back indicates this plate was made between 1883 and 1899. This plate is in undamaged, fair condition with surface marks, production flaws, craquelure as well as discoloration due to usage and aging. The photographs are a part of the description.
