Crafted from a slightly coarse white clay with a delightfully rough texture that speaks to its ceramic nature. Adorned with a rich, warm, and flowing aquamarine glaze, offering subtle nuances. We've combined these two elements to create this medium-sized plate. The rim of the plate is accented with an underglaze color known as "sabi," adding a distinctive touch. A medium-sized plate typically measures about 15-18 cm in diameter, making it ideal for use as a generous side plate, a dish for individual main courses, or a cake plate. While the glaze boasts a color that is both soft and vibrant, the "sabi" accent, with its slightly burnt appearance, enhances the earthy character of the pottery and acts as a beautiful bridge to the colors of your food. All stages of production, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously done by hand in my home studio, which is equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece possesses its own unique character, offering the charm that comes from handmade craftsmanship. The item you will receive is the same as pictured. The base of the plate has been sanded to ensure it is gentle on your table surfaces. To address this, we apply a water-stopping treatment using a food-safe sealant before shipping, so there is no need for a preliminary soaking (mejime). This treatment requires 2-3 days, which is why we set the shipping period to 5 days from your order. If you do not require the water-stopping treatment, please let us know at the time of purchase. - Cutlery shown in the product images is not included. - Product images are edited and photographed to be as true to the actual product as possible.
