Naoko Nakanishi
A renowned illustrator and culinary artist from Japan. She is known for her charming illustrations featuring animals, characterized by their simple and pure themes. Following the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, Ms. Nakanishi felt compelled to contribute in any way she could. A friend suggested she create a drawing each day as a gift, aiming to bring comfort to those still healing from the trauma. Over time, in 2013, Naoko Nakanishi held a series of exhibitions across Japan showcasing these artworks.
The tabby cat, BonBon, is a character Ms. Nakanishi began creating in 2007 and is her most frequent muse. This brown tabby cat, with a fondness for visiting markets, cooking, and traveling, comes alive amidst the diverse paper materials Ms. Nakanishi collects. Its humorous and spirited demeanor often brings a smile, helping one forget their worries.
