Known in English as "cotton flower" and in Japanese as "wataka," it blooms around September, and about a month after the flower lover have finished blooming, the ripe fruit bursts open, revealing cute white fluff containing seeds. Unlike the cotton (silk floss/silk) made from silkworm cocoons, the cotton obtained from "cotton flowers" is called "momen" because it is obtained from a plant.
